My mother Suzanne was diagnosed with Dementia in 2007.  She recently crossed over to heaven on February 20, 2020. I have been her caregiver, legal guardian and conservator. My father was her primary at home caregiver until she was admitted into a full care nursing home facility. I share tips with you and make product recommendations that we have used ourselves that can work for you too.

Being a Caregiver to a loved one with Dementia can be a real challenge! You are not alone and because I have learned so much, I feel obligated to help you and your family on your journey.

Growing up my family consisted of my parents and I am one of four children and they certainly did their share of caring for both of our parents as well.

When our mom was first diagnosed we were very overwhelmed. She still looked okay to us, although there was some new behavior that was sometimes strange, we still had our mom. Admittedly, we were in denial. We were asking the doctors and nurses for our next steps and they very kindly gave us a folder with information from the Alzheimer’s Association and a few books and pamphlets. These resources were helpful, but we did not really see ourselves in those people yet. We did not fully understand the word ‘Caregiver’ was us.

Today I am very clear about (LBD) Lewy Body Dementia and what this truly awful disease has done to my mom. Over the years it became obvious to me that she had LBD versus Alzheimer’s Disease. There are very specific symptoms of  LBD that are unique. For instance, early on she was experiencing hallucinations, sleep apnea, muscle rigidity, side effects and reactions to typical drugs prescribed for early onset Alzheimer’s Disease and other clear symptoms of LBD.

I feel strongly now that she was not properly diagnosed with LBD and we lost a lot of time in getting her the proper medications and care. However, upon her admission to the nursing home she was able to get the quality care that she needed with the right prescriptions for her symptoms.

I often asked myself – Why her? Why our family? I won’t ever have those answers, but today I can do something to help you. If you or your loved one has recently been diagnosed with a cognitive disorder like (LBD)  Lewy Body Dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease or a similar cognitive impairment, I have built this website for you.

My goal is to recommend products to you that will be helpful to you and your family. I will have more resources and partners for you to link to and get help from. I will donate a percentage of my profits to LBDA.org and ALZ.org.

If you are visiting the site from outside the USA welcome! Use the translate button and currency switcher to use the site effectively. Not all products ship outside of the USA. The products that are available for international delivery will be noted in the product description.

I have included a webinar on the front page of the site about the difference between LBD and Alzheimer’s Disease. Please contact me anytime at the chat bot and you will be talking to me live. If I am not available on chat, please leave your email address and message and I will get back to you very soon. If you are interested in partnering on the site, please contact me and let me know your mission and goals and we can discuss it.

I wish you luck, light and love,

Sincerely,

Julie Hite
